Might want to re-take geography and perhaps history or social studies depending on your level of lack of education.

Steampunk would ruin the fantasy for me, and elves would just make it all into DnD and 'drow porn'... which would, well, ruin the fantasy for me as well...

Mesoamerican would be different, and unique.

How about a post-apocalypticesque (a word? lol) type world. Yes I realize postsearing ascalon is kinda like that, but I'm talking about the Mad Max sort of post-apocalyptic environment.

Or a world with very little land mass, where people have to travel everywhere in some sort of watercraft. Most of the watercraft could be stable. Like aircraft carier size ships. The few land masses that exist would be fought over of course as they would be considered very valuable.

How about a chapter that takes place on a planet that has been devastated by a nuclear war. The surface would be extremely radioactive, so everyone is forced to live underground. After a few hundred years, the planet would be honeycomed with caverns and tunnels. Also the few surface animals that survived would have mutated into horrible and deformed monsters.

Or how about a chapter on a world in which the indiginous inhabitants have been taken over by an alien race. There are only a few thousand people that have managed to avoid capture by the aliens. Over time, the people manage to take some of the aliens advanced weapons and stage a resistance.

Just a few ideas though I think I'd prefer to have the game based loosely on our past.

I've been thinking about a possible scene for the piece of land north of Ascalon (more like northeast). Charr area that is.

Since the first problem is that there is no boat there, (and I think there will be more continents without boat-ability coming) travelling by air should be introduced. Have big ships with horizontal sails and elementalists keeping it up with air magic.

The area north of Ascalon (let's call it Kingdom of Charr) is inhabited by Charr. Their king is one that loves battle. His major goal in life is blood. However, he's also quite gullible. The titans used this knowledge to fool them into attacking ascalon (The one realm of torment quest with the Charr). However, a resistance is brewing. A resistance formed by Charr and Humans, treating each other like equals.

In the northeast of Ascalon, there is a city in the clouds. Long ago, this city used to be a part of ascalon, where Elementalists trained without restraint of damaging their environment. They used a combination of Air and Water magic to make it possible to walk on the clouds. However, then the Guild Wars started. Through war and battle, the city was torn apart from the Kingdom of Ascalon, and drifted out, tainted by evil forces.

The area in the sky is still floating, with clouds that are walkable, massive temples in the sky, overrun by monsters. The leader of the city, has managed to keep them at bay and try to regain contact with the ground.

However, when they first descended to the earth, they found a scarred land, scorched by fire and war. Living in this land were the Charr. The Charr greeted these people coming from the heavens, wondering whether they were the divine powers their prophecies had fortold. They kept in contact, trading, exchanging technologies, and the People of the Sky trying to find a way back to Ascalon.

Then, however, the Titans showed up. The royal blood line saw the immense power they posessed, and immediately knew the prophecies were going to be fullfilled. Then, an Era of war started for the Charr. They attacked ascalon and all humans, also ending their peace with the People of the Sky. Now they were fighting a two-sided battle: First the monsters on their own territory, and now also the charr.

Some time later, they heard the wall, which they were told by spies was the last defense of Ascalon versus the Charr, had fallen, and all hope was lost. However, it was then that the new Count of the poorest part of the sky-kingdom suddenly came with an invention to travel through the air over long distances. At the same time, a group of Charr, also known as The Return, contacted the People of the sky. They had enough of war, and did not believe in the Titans as thorough as their leader. They thought it was nonsense to keep fighting.

Now, as the first air-ships arrive at the ports, it is your duty to stop the Charr. But is the war against Ascalon all to the story? Or is an even bigger plan being brewed by the Charr king?

Edit: Now that I think of it, one of the new classes could be a spin-off of elementalists. And they can man the airships.

ok ok. Since I got it right the last time that C3 is going to be in Elona, I'll do it again with C4.

I have a feeling that C4 will be based on.....guess what......The Corsair! Yes, we're talking about a pirate theme here. There could be a link between the corsairs and the Luxons too, judging by the pieces of Jade-sea cut-out near the corsair encampment in Istan.

Moreover, SPOILER AHEAD!!

In Blacktide Den mission, when we first meet a group of Harpies, the npc will start talking about how they don't have harpie problem back at home. This is the only hint I found in NF about a far-away unknown land. The land could consist of island chains, with each island has its own unique scenary.

What do you guys think?

The developers are basing their games off of cultures they have some knowledge about so people can identify them. I don't think they set out with the intent of creating new worlds for Guild Wars. I would say that each chapter so far has been influenced by a specific culture, and not really based on a specific culture.

Where the hell are they going to get nuclear weapons in GW? Otherwise I like it... All GW games have some Post-Apocalyptic parts in them, Post Searing in Proph, Jade Sea/Echowald Forest in Factions, and The Desolation in NF.

I like the Steampunk thing, or a Nordic, up-north land. Maybe even go overboard with the whole side vs side thing in Factions, where you can actually be on the bad team!! You would create a char and choose alignment and you would have access to alignment only missions where you fight against other people to accomplish some goal. Like Good Guys want to stop Xenu from loading the bodies into DC-9s, so they join up and with NPC help try to kill Xenu who is being defended by an equaly large group of Bad Guys. You HAVE to win once to beat the mission maybe you would be forced to bring certain skills to keep it balanced on these types of missions.

PvP would be awesome if they did an AB type thing, but you have to get 50 kills to win. A 12v12 battle royale

And yes, I CAN see it possible to mix machines and magic. Maybe the Mechanized profession would have soem inherant drawback when using magic, like all your spells attributes in your 2ndary prof are only 2/3 as effictive. (Example: M/Mo has 10 Healing Prayers, and since it is .33% less effective his skills would act as if he only had 7) making magic less potent in the hands of a Mechanized unit. The dwarves have an Iron Forgeman, I can't see why humans can't build things too.

The problem is...pretty much everything has been done. Like someone said before, it's maddening to try and "come up" with a new culture/race/setting that's unique and not "Kinda like this but with this thrown in!" Racking my mind, the most "unique" setting that I ever came across (that wasn't made to be humorous/satirical) was Planescape. Planescape revolves around the idea that there are a near-infinite amount of worlds (planes), all of which connect with one city, Sigil. Anything can become a portal to another realm, if the conditions are met.

Now I doubt that's a completely original idea, but it's sure as hell more interesting (to me) than "Zomg, evildoers! Stop teh end of teh world!1" That's just been beaten into the ground, dead and rotting. ANet used it in all three of the chapters so far, and it's getting so OLD.

Instead of trying to come up with a new area, take an area that's not "groundbreaking" in concept and apply a new idea around it. Instead of playing the knight in shining armor killing the hordes of evil...let us play as the spawn of hell eating his carcass after a huge battle. Obviously this is the "cliche alternative to a cliche" but at least it would be a fresh take on GW. Done properly, hell yes I would buy that. Another similar idea, already brought up by Cacheelma, is a game where you play as Corsairs, or somehow relating to Corsairs. Maybe they're all bloodthirsty pirates, maybe they're just desperate/misunderstood/whatever.

My gripe is, I'm tired of being...a well-to-do hero type, as Palawa Joko would say.

some mechanics is in chapter 3 not as advanced but they have some machines and artisans. I think it would be great to advance because they already started the process of it and it would be cool to have a robot pet that you run with magic and u need a spell to keep it running like minions but they dont run out of magic so fast you want to have fun with the machines not to have a pain.

Note that both Cantha and Elona have been alluded to in Tyria, therefore, it's quite possible there will be a large collective head slap when chapte 4's location is announced.
